Backup is not the hard part. Restore is. Plenty of organisations have run backups faithfully for years and discover during an incident that the restore doesn't work, or takes four days.
We design to a stated recovery objective. How much data can you afford to lose, and how long can you afford to be down — those two numbers determine everything else, and most people have never been asked them.

No, and this is a widespread and expensive misunderstanding. Microsoft protects the platform, not your data from deletion, retention-policy expiry or malicious action. It needs its own backup.
Depends on volume and connection. Single files are minutes. A full server over the internet can take many hours, which is why we keep a local cache for large restores.
